Southern Circuit

Southern Circuit

Tanzania's Southern Circuit is what the Northern Circuit was thirty years ago. Ruaha, Nyerere and Mikumi hold the same wildlife, the same landscapes, and the same drama — without the crowds. Fewer vehicles, exclusive access, and a sense of wilderness that the Serengeti lost long ago. This is where AfriMemories Expedition takes travellers who have already seen the north, or who want to see Tanzania the way it used to be.

What is the Southern Tanzania Safari Circuit?
The Southern Circuit covers Tanzania's remote and uncrowded parks — Nyerere (formerly Seleng), Ruaha, Mikumi, and Udzungwa Mountains. It offers the same wildlife as the north, without the vehicle traffic
Why choose the Southern Circuit over the Northern Circuit?

Solitude and predator density. It is genuinely possible to watch a lion pride for twenty minutes without another vehicle in sight. For travellers who have already done the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, the south feels like a revelation .

Which parks are included?

Nyerere National Park Africa's largest, with boat safaris on the Rufiji River. Ruaha  Tanzania's largest park, with one of East Africa's biggest lion populations. Mikumi the most accessible, with tree-climbing lions. Udzungwa Mountains rainforest hiking and endemic primates .

What activities are unique to the Southern Circuit?

Boat safaris on the Rufiji River in Nyerere, walking safaris, night drives (permitted in Mikumi), and fly camping. These are activities the Northern Circuit's major parks do not always permit .
